Our Focus

It's about the Boys!

Safety of the Boys!

Having Fun!

Doing our best!

Uniforms

Typically there are two uniforms the boys will have.

Class A: Blue Uniforms Shirt for Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelo's

Tan Uniform for Webelo's

** Pack 601 does not require Scout pants.

All Class A uniforms should have the blue belt and

appropriate hat.

Class B: Pack or other Scouting T-Shirt

Parent Involvement

It is imperative that an adult (parent, grandparent, guardian) attend all scouting events with the scout. We have a little saying that BSA does not stand for Baby Sitters of America. Please be involved with the boys and your scout in particular! We are always looking for leaders and help. Please see one of the leaders if you are interested in helping out.

I encourage everyone to take the online "Youth Protection" at:

Parent and Boy Conduct
If you or your son have a problem with one of the leaders or other parents, I encourage you to talk with them about the issue. If you feel like you cannot or you do not feel like you got a satisfactory answer, I encourage you to talk to me (the Cubmaster). Yelling and screaming at one of the other parents or leaders is unacceptable and will not be tolerated!!

Fowl or Abusive Language is unacceptable while at a scouting event or around scouts. I ask that you police each other on this. Occasionally a word will slip and I ask you as adults to remind each other of this rule. And please also police the boys.

Smoking in site of scouts is not allowed by the BSA.

We will continually have to remind the boys to keep their hands off of each other. Please help us with that.

Camping

We do camp with the boys. If you wish to go, as a minimum you will need a tent to fit you and your son and sleeping bags. Other things to make life more comfortable would be sleeping pads or air mattresses, camp chairs, and lanterns. We also hike so comfortable shoe/boots are recommended.

Fundraisers
We do 2 - 3 fundraisers a year. At the beginning of the school year we take part in the council sponsored event of selling popcorn. We will also do one or more fundraisers throughout the year. The money raised directly benefits your scout. We ask that the parents raise a profit of $50 to go toward running the pack events. Our fundraiser chairperson can tell you how much popcorn you need to sell to get that profit. It is not a lot. After that, all additional profit goes into an account that we keep for your son that can be used to do anything from purchase a uniform to pay for camping, trips and summer camp. If you do not wish to participate in fundraising, then we ask you for an additional $50 on top of the registration fees. Our books are always open to inspection by any parent if you have any questions. Please see our treasurer.

Registration Fees
We charge $45 for the year (Sept-Aug) for scouts. $22 of the fee goes to the BSA council to pay for registration, Boys Life Subscription (magazine for your sons), accident insurance, etc. The remaining $23 is used to run the Pack 601 program. Things that are covered by these funds are things like pinewood derby cars, rain gutter regatta boats, award patches (pins, etc), rocket motors for our annual rocket launch and pack meeting items like food and beverage. The goal is to pay for all of the basic programming from this and the $50 fundraiser. Camping trips are typically extra and are normally about $15/person.

Please contact me if you have any question.
